Although many Republicans are optimistic about their chances in this year’s elections, some of Washington’s leading conservatives gathered Thursday to privately vent frustrations about what kind of party they will be left with after November.
By my count, a whopping 301 amendments to the Senate immigration bill have been offered by members of the Judiciary Committee so far. Chuck Grassley alone contributed 77. Most of these are technical in nature, but a few stand out.
They lack the stature of the Big Three Republicans in the immigration reform debate: Marco Rubio, John McCain and Lindsey Graham.
